OUR PROJECTS

Tshopo Lomani

Forest Protection between the Lomani and Tshuapa Rivers

The Tshopo Lomani Grouped REDD Project encompasses three forest concessions: Renewable Solutions (Reso), Green Initiatives (GRIN), and Biodiversity Development (BIODEV), aiming to establish a green protection corridor. They are located in the territories of Isangi and Opala, in the Tshopo province, south of the Congo River and between the Lomani and Tshuapa Rivers.

This is an area of high conservation value tropical forest, one of the most diverse habitats on the planet. It is home to over 38,000 inhabitants and endangered animals such as Bonobos, the Giant Ground Pangolin, and the vulnerable leopard (Panthera pardus).

It is also a region affected by deforestation due to the precarious living conditions of the local communities, impacted by degrading agriculture, timber extraction, and unregulated hunting.

A project to conserve and
protect the forest and its biodiversity

Fighting deforestation caused by legal and illegal artisanal logging activities.

Intensification and diversification of sustainable agricultural production for subsistence.

Encouraging biodiversity protection.

Promoting ongoing social and economic development of the involved populations.

In order to address the challenges of the project region and our goal of forest conservation and preservation of local wildlife, we work to replace the causes of deforestation and degradation through actions focused on the needs of local villages, including: intensifying and diversifying agriculture through the introduction of new technologies and farming practices, increasing access to quality education, improving public health practices, and promoting sustainable economic development for the inhabitants.
